Almost all the servers on Mastodon and the wider Fediverse are run by unpaid grassroots volunteers that pay their server's bills out of their own pockets.
They don't sell your data or carry advertising, and they don't get any share of the donations given to the Mastodon etc software developers.
Please consider donating to your server admin, they usually have donation links on your server website's "About" page. You can also ask your admin directly about how to donate.

@aeva I run into a fair number of lost flash drives and I check them. I also have a pretty good return to owner rate.
But that's because I find them plugged into my classroom PCs. :)I don't think I've ever found one in the wild.

@andypiper They have said that any IOG charging over 6 hours will be charge at peak rate (49.61p) - more expensive than going to a public charger!
Effectively it means you never want IOG to allocate a charge period outside the normal overnight because it will cost you a lot more - the simplest way to achieve this is to switch the intelligent part off.
I didn't get any notification either but they're already doing it..
