@mjg the drummer they've hired for the tour is top-notch. I'm unlikely to go (I swore off of arena shows...after a Rush show 30+ years ago, in fact...my thinking was that if Rush couldn't make a big arena show a great experience, no one could, so I go to small shows almost exclusively), but I think it's a fine thing for the fans who want to see them again or for the first time. Nilles is a great drummer and a great live performer.

I was very seriously considering chopping an inch or two off the legs of my desk, because it's too tall for any of my chairs and my arms are at a weird angle that's bad for my arthritis and encourages RSI and CTS.A keyboard/mouse shelf would probably also do the job, but that'd be hard to install on this weird-ass old desk, which as a big fat edge all around. The simple keyboard shelf I've always used simply won't fit it.
I still might end up chopping off an inch or so, if the taller casters don't solve it.

Like, so close, I had dug my marking gauge and flush cut saw out and was starting to move stuff.
But, then I thought I should check to see if I can get taller casters for the chair, first...turns out I can get 1.5" extra height from 3" roller blade casters for under twenty bucks.

Every time I buy a "smart" anything, I regret it.Every time I buy a "smart" anything, I regret it. Some day I will learn. My new Samsung monitor is so fidgety and pretends like it doesn't have a connection to the computer sometimes, and goes to a dashboard with apps. I thought I could just ignore the smart part, but you have to interact with the dashboard for setup. Ridiculous stuff.
It was a good deal for a 4k 32" OLED monitor (refurb direct from Samsung), but they really wanted to make a TV, and it shows.

Can yโall help me out with a product recommendation?@sarae @mycorrhiza Winix filters show up on Woot all the time with a pretty good discount. The most recent one I bought has two pre-filters, one disposable and cheap and the second a washable plastic mesh. This works great for houses with pets. But I have several older ones, and they're fine, too. I will say that the fan died in one after about two or three years.
I also don't like the bright blue LEDs that can't easily be turned off. Requires tape or surgery to fix. A common problem, though.

The main lesson of the Bluesky thing is not anything to do with protocols or technology.@paninid @jalefkowit that has nothing to do with the number, though. If it's about numbers, and if that number is ~150, then there ought to be thousands, maybe millions, of maladaptive personalities like Musk out there caused by moderation.
If it's something else (maybe in addition to numbers) then selection matters.
I suspect cause and effect may be getting mixed up. Musk was already a canker sore on the discourse, he bought Twitter because he cannot fill the void in his narcissistic soul.

The main lesson of the Bluesky thing is not anything to do with protocols or technology.@paninid @jalefkowit it can't be that low. Thousands of mostly normal people maintain forums and Mastodon instances with way more users than that (myself included, though I admit to being on the outer edge of normal).
-
The main lesson of the Bluesky thing is not anything to do with protocols or technology.@jalefkowit I'm trying to think of a counterargument and failing. Lowtax being the extreme example, but, it seems like either you get out when you have the chance and try to return to normal (MySpace Tom, moot) or it destroys you.

Fun stuff: "txt" file with "bold" escape symbols is displayed fine and searchable by `less` on MacOS (and I suppose on any other sensible OS), but GtiHub cannot handle it.@nina_kali_nina did Mrs. Which write these docs?

I've deactivated my Bluesky account.'nI haven't exactly been having fun there- today's "CEO inviting transphobia" news doesn't help.'nI was there to make connections but honestly it's increasingly just becoming noise.@vkc it's a shame the fediverse wasn't really ready when Xitter Xit the bed and everybody worth following made for the door. All the funny/weird Twitter folks ended up on Bluesky, and I guess we'll have to wait for it to get really bad in the manner of Twitter, maybe one of the other technofascist billionaires will acquire it, I don't know. Probably won't be any time soon.
But, they've made it clear several times they're moderating like a business and not like a community.

I just love all the little weirdo systems in my collection.@SuperSelena64 that pixel Link (I think?) drawing is really something. It's wild what a good pixel artist can do with such tight constraints. The hair is immaculate.

Absolutely pitch perfect Analogue marketing.@hunterking @jalefkowit @glyph I was on the Pocket pre-order waiting list long enough to stop thinking I needed one. So, I canceled the order and forgot they existed.
