Hey fedi,So, with the news about #vim, I'm considering branching out and trying different editors/toolchains. Thing is, I've got a #vimwiki that keeps my brain running, a second one that manages the massive project that is #thisOldClownHouse and a third that is my website. I'm hopeful that a non-slop fork of vim is in the future, but I can't maintain one, so I'm wanting to learn about my options.I could use recommendations of things to explore. Optimally tools where the maintainers have stated a policy of not accepting slop, but I'm willing to risk things where we don't have *known* slop being introduced by maintainers.I don't need an all-in-one solution necessarily, but I do need both a text editor and a wiki solution. There needs to be some tooling from which I can render a basic static site from the wiki format. I can shell script just enough to ease the practice of pushing files through a series of tools, but I typically need some handholding, so I'd prefer something that's already pretty well established. I'm not currently looking to leave the terminal, no shade to gui's, just not what I'm looking for right now. edit: Oh, and I'm on #openBSD, so preferably something that's already in ports, but I'd still like to know about small projects too.#askfedi #textEditorAlternatives #noAI

Has anyone ever come across an Android media player that's both1. Open Source (preferrably in the F-Droid store) and,2. lets you rate (exact scale doesn't matter, binary, 5 stars, whatever) things from the now-playing page and saves those ratings either to file metadata or has a desktop equivalent that can sync them with itself?I want to be able to quickly go through music and decide if it deserves a closer listen later or is bad and I should just delete it. Mostly to have a sort of pre-screen that I can do easily while on my bicycle (where I need to pay attention and can't dig through menus, but can hit "Like" or "4 star" and swipe to the next track). @vivianIt's still not really clear, and depends on what google actually does. If your new phone is a google device, ironically, there are more options for removing google completely with Graphene or similar.I want to try out Linux on the phone, like with Sailfish. @imp3tuz

@Jeremiah yeah I am staying with 1password because I'm afraid of migrating all my passwords and 2FA to Proton... all eggs in one basket sort of problem like, what happens if my account is compromised or I lose access to it? Best to keep passwords private from email/calendar/drive IMHO... and moving them to Bitwarden will take significant time so the slight price increase is ok for me as I value my time more. But keeping an open mind and may change stance in the future.Pricing aside, I love the UX/UI of 1Password across devices (computer / phone) over other offerings...

@johannab No, not at all snarky. 💕What is so interesting is to discern between the technical and social, and I think that most people have a very functional-technical perspective of what it means to communicate online, so to say. Consider it merely as extra channels to interact with others, more choice to connect.But of course our online social network is much more than merely a channel, and we have to 'project our social' somehow over these thin copper and fiberglass wires, while we try to make sense and interpret the social signals that come from other remote places.I think we underestimate the impact of communicating online, and the narrow 'social bandwidth' that our current networking tools support. Then we translate online situations to how we would behave offline and get wrong expectations, misconceptions, and subequenctly miscommunications.We are still all youngers online, still all learning the ropes, while we do social networking offline for 1,000's of years already.
