And thank you for this guide, I will use the part about installing your own domain name.
I use the free Yunohost domain name, but when I wanted to set my own domain name, the instructions were a little ambiguous.
So I will go over your guide, ร tรชte reposรฉe, to finally set up my own carefully nerdishly picked domain name.

@_elena if I have a personal domain I use for email with Proton, do I need a different domain for self hosting photos, files, etc?

I don't quite get the domain name market.
1 euro for a domain at Ionos. I pay something like 20$ for mine. I don't get how and why the price changes over time. Etc.
I checked Ionos, in Quรฉbec, I see 1$ per year, which is even cheaper than 1 euro...
Anyway, for a few bucks per year, why would we not have a domain name?

It was the first solution I explored when bought my VPS, unfortunately I discovered my Ubuntu version was too new for yunohost, or some obstacle like this.

On a VPS the context is probably different.
In the end, what matters is being able to do self-hosting anyway ๐

Premier essai. รtape 4, mon admin est dรฉjร crรฉรฉ, je clique sur l'onglet DNS et รงa ne se passe pas comme prรฉvu.
Yunohost me propose une configuration automatique (voir la capture d'รฉcran). Je suis le lien pour les instructions pour obtenir le jeton d'authentification, mais la documentation n'est pas ร jour, l'interface de Gandi a changรฉ. Je galรจre sur le site de Gandi, et je ne trouve pas.

Je me rabats sur les instructions de Yunohost pour faire รงa manuellement et je me souviens de pourquoi je ne l'avais pas fait. Je n'y comprends pas grand chose.
Tes instructions sont plus simples, mais la correspondance entre ce que je devrais voir sur Yunohost et chez Gandi n'est pas รฉvidente.
Je vais devoir y revenir plus tard. Je dois me prรฉparer pour demain. Je laisse tomber pour l'instant...

You have the advantage of sharing a wide range of things on your stream that makes it likely that you are a real person, and not just a scammer.
Also, I don't ever recall you asking Internet Strangers for money, which is another big hint.

I've been on the other end of this, and requested to follow people. Not sure what my success rate is on that.

Some people can follow me without a problem, some instead "Request to Follow", I suspect some local instance thing that flags some Follows as questionable & asks me to confirm or deny them. Sometimes the requests look legitimate and I grant them, other times they look spammy, either attractive women w/o much content (which makes me suspect they want me to subscribe to their naughty webcam) or like you describe, & both types are rejected.

Okay, I am going to say it:
Whether or not the people of #GazaVerified truly are who they say they are (and I am withholding judgement on that), quite a few are behaving in a manner that is indistinguishable from scammers.
There is the mass following of Fediverse users. If someone follows me, I assume that there is actual interest in what I have to say, not because they want money from me.
And first following me, then immediately sending me Direct Messages asking me for money is something I have otherwise only seen from scammers. This does not build trust in me.
Hence, I will use the block button more frequently in the future.
